Frequently Asked Questions

You've got questions. And we have the answers!

The more you learn about Toledo Bartending School, the sooner you'll want to sign up.

What will I receive when I complete the seminar?

You’ll go home with an “Attendance Award” document as proof you completed our 12-hour seminar. You may use this for tuition credit toward the full 40-hour, two-week course in professional bartending at our Cleveland campus – and in the future when we re-open our Toledo school.

What’s the difference between your seminar and professional bartending school?

The training is the same – but in the full 40-hour bartender’s training, students also receive job placement assistance and certification. This Toledo Bartending School is meant to enhance your current skills as a bartender, server, cocktail waitress, catering staff or barback. You’ll have lots of fun, meet new people and experience hands –on learning.

What will I learn?

You’ll learn how to mix 50 of the most popular party and frozen drinks, how to open and pour beer and wine and how to “free pour” measured amounts of liquor. We begin with lectures followed by demo drinks -- then you get the chance to practice making drinks with a student partner. There is no pressure to pass any sort of test. You’ll get the feel of bartending through hands-on practice and repetition.

How long is the course?

The class is a total of twelve hours taught on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. at a local Toledo hotel. Class size is limited to 20 students – with just the right amount of time for a great introduction to private party/home bartending and the hospitality industry.

What does the class include?

You get your own textbook to keep—the same one used by over 35 bartending schools nationwide. And you receive ten hours of lecture, demos and hands-on participation. You can even sample some of our demo drinks—more fun that most classes you’ll ever take!

Who teaches the school?

Your instructor is Will Cobbin, professional mixologist, competitive bartender and Founding Director of the Cleveland Bartending School. Will has been teaching and directing bartending schools since 1995, with over 7,000 graduates.

Straight Shots

A word from Director and seminar instructor Will Cobbin:

I love what we do at our bartending schools!  Every day people come to me and say, “Will, I need a change.”  It’s my pleasure to say that, with a little practice and the right attitude, bartending can be that change.  Whether you’re looking for a new full-time career, part-time position, or just a way to spice up your social life, bartending has something to offer…because it isn’t just another job…it’s a way of life.
That may sound a little corny, but think about it.  If you sit down for a drink to relax and have a good time, why should that change on the other side of the bar?  Good bartenders are the social center of any establishment…not simply because they pour the drinks, but because they know how to make people feel at home.  I know of no other job that pays you (and well!) to make new friends every night.
So whether you’ve always wondered about the bartending scene—or never touched a bottle, check us out.  Our classes are flexible and affordable.  And our graduates can be found at the hottest nightspots and finest restaurants around Northern Ohio.   Even if you’re an experienced bartender, remember that there’s always more to learn.  And we’re here to teach!

This seminar in Toledo is a great way to jump into it – and then decide whether to take the full 2-week course at our Cleveland campus – or in the future when we re-open our Toledo School. See you in class!
